Osmania University is named after its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad who rather through a farman or Royal Charter, brought the University into existence in 1918. Though the need for the University for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad was established on 2 October 1972 by the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh as the first–ever Technological University in the country. JNTUH has four constituent engineering colleges and four academic units/schools in addition to other administrative functional units. Kothari stressed the need for establishing at least one Agricultural University in each Indian State. As a result, the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) was established on June 12, 1964 at Hyderabad. Sri O. PullaReddi, I.C.S. (Retired) was the first Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University
Horticulture is the growth engine of Telangana State and is the chief source of income to the economy of the state. It contributes approx 5.16% GSDP of the State. In India, Telangana State stands 3rd in area and 8th in production of fruits and vegetables. In view of the horticultural importance in the state, as emphasized in the 13th schedule of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014 (Act No. 6 of 2014), the Government of Telangana through G.O. Ms. No. 31 & 32, dt: 22-12-2014, Agriculture and Cooperation (H & S) Department, by adapting with few modifications, the Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University Act – 2007 (Act No. 30 of 2007), established Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (SKLTSHU) with head quarters at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad – 500 030.
NIMS
There is a two floor Emergency Block in the institute to deal with emergencies. It was established under the PMSSY project in 2012. It consists of a Tier I trauma centre and acute medical care unit with a bed capacity of 96 beds. There are 3 intensive care units with fully equipped triage facilities for disaster management. The EMD facilities are managed and monitored by the Department of Emergency Medicine consisting of 6 faculties, Senior Residents and 12 Emergency Medical officers. There is round the clock availability of doctors from supporting Departments of Medical and Surgical branches. The Department has 2 major and 1 minor operation theatre. 24 hour laboratory and blood bank services are present in the same building. There is a facility for direct admission under Arogyasri and various other insurance schemes. A dedicated desk with Arogyasri is present at entrance of EMD. Being a tertiary care hospital, we resuscitate and stabilise polytraumas and critically ill patients. A General Surgery team is attached to the Department which runs OPD services for simple surgical procedures like hydroceles and hernias. The Department believes in providing round the clock best services or the acute medical and surgical cases.

Telangana University was established through Act Number 28 of the State Government in the year 2006. The University was established with an objective to make the higher education accessible to the educationally backward District of Nizamabad in Telangana. The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences was established after formation of State of Telangana by adopting the Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences Act vide G.O.M s No. 20 HM&FW (Cl) Department Dated: 26.09.2014 with head quarters at Warangal. Dr. B.Karunakar Reddy was appointed as first vice - Chancellor vide G.O.Ms No. 99 HM&FW Dept. (Cl) Dated: 26.11.2015. Under the able-guidance of Hon'ble Health Minister Sri Ch.Laxma Reddy garu and Special Chief Secretary Sri Rajeshwar Tiwari l.A.S. garu, all necessary approvals have been obtained from the Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Central Council for Indian Medicine, Central Council of Homeopathy and Indian Nursing Council University of Health Sciences started functioning from the academic year 2016-17 from a small renovated block in the Kakatiya Medical College campus. All colleges which were affiliated to Dr.NTR UHS were dis-affiliated and affiliated to KNRUHS from 01.06.2016 vide G.0.Ms No. 05 HM&FW Dept. (Cl) Dept Dated: 09.02.2016. KNR University of Health Sciences is functioning as an affiliating University offering Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Super Specialty, Doctoral and Post Doctoral Courses in the following branches of Health Sciences.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh, realized in the late 1970s, the popular demand for enhancement of facilities for technical education. It decided to adopt progressive policy of encouraging philanthropic organizations to establish and manage technical institutions.Consequent to such a policy decision, the elite philanthropists of Warangal City, with the sole aim of imparting quality technical education, established Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal popularly known as KITSW in the year 1980 under the aegis of Ekasila Education Society (EES). The former Prime Minister of India late P.V. Narasimha Rao garu laid foundation stone for the institute. The members of the EES are encompassing all sections of the society i.e. educationists, agriculturists, industrialists, doctors, social workers etc,. They are highly respectable personalities of the city, and known for their generosity in social activities. The main objective of the EES is to develop KITS Warangal into a major technical institution imparting a quality education to the students of this backward Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh.

National Institute of Technology, Warangal (Deemed University) , formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1959. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for this institute on October 10, 1959, the first in the chain of 30 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country.
