Kandukuri Veeresalingam was born to Punnamma and Subbarayadu on 16th of April 1848 at Rajahmundry. He lost his father at the age of four. In spite of several hardships and hurdles, Veeresalingam progressed in life showing unmatched courage, hard work and dedication. He married Rajyalakshmi in 1861. He started his career as a headmaster in a school at Korangi near Dowleswaram. Later he joined the Government College Rajahmundry as a Telugu Pandit. He later joined the Presidency College as the head of the department of Telugu and worked there till 1904.

Government Degree College, Eluru was established in the year 2008 with an aim of providing quality education to students in and around Eluru Town. Sir CR Reddy College, Eluru
This need was fulfilled when the late Sri Rao Saheb Damaraju Venkata Rao, the then Chairman of the Municipal Council, Eluru, took the initiative in 1944. The Municipal Council under the stewardship enlisted the sympathy and support of the philanthropic citizens in and around Eluru and embarked on a collection drive and deposited Rs. 2 lakhs 17 thousand in the Municipal Treasury as an earmarked fund for the starting of the college.

The College owes its present home to which it moved in 1949, to Nawab Ali Yaver Jung, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Osmania University. In 1941 B.Ed Degree and B.Sc. (Domestic Science) were introduced which has now been replaced by the BA and B.Sc. courses.

Satavahana University has its roots in the erstwhile Post Graduate Centre of Osmania and Kakatiya Universities. In the months of June 2008, the Post Graduate centre has been upgraded as Satavahana University. The University is named after the SATAVAHANA dynasty that ruled this region. Foundation for the establishment of the University was laid in July 2008 in 200 acres of main campus situated in the immediate neighborhood of Karimnagar Town on Malkapur Road. The sprawling University campus is a beautiful forest-like environment with idyllic surroundings. The University started functioning from the main campus from September 2012 and purposes to shift the entire PG Programmes into main campus by July/August 2013 in a full-fledged manne

Palamuru University has been established in the year 2008 as a State University by statutory enactment to cater to the growing requirements of Higher Education of the region in general and of Mahabubnagar district in particular. The University started functioning from the academic year 2008-09 with the then PG College of Osrnania University at Nlahabubnagar as the nucleus, where in five PG courses were being offered. The New University set out with a vision and plan of action. On academic front, new courses (both regular and self financing) have been started and initial faculty recruitment on a modest scale had been taken up. In the very first year of its establishment during 2008-09, three Regular programmes study viz. M.A English, M.Sc Chemistry Ek 1v1.5c Microbiology were launched. During 2009-10, one regular course of M.Sc. 5 Year Integrated Chemistry and two self financing courses viz. M. ,W and B.Pharmacy were introduced. To supplement the teaching arrangements, services of Academic Consultants and Guest Faculty have been availed. Thanks to the support of State Government, alongside, the University focused on infrastructure development. In tune with the blue print, the university embarked upon the construction of four new buildings viz. Administrative Block, Academic Block, Library Building and Pharmacy Building and two Student Hostels - one for boys and one for Girls during 2011-12. Integrated campus development and creation of academic facilities and student amenities such as Auditoria, Class Room Complex, Sports Complex, Pharmacy Hostel, Internal CC Roads and the majestic Entrance Arch of the University, have been taken up in subsequent years.
