Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
The university was founded with the opening of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore in 1994 by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, and is managed by her international humanitarian organisation Mata Amritanandamayi Math. In 2003, it became one of the youngest institutes to be deemed a university, when it was conferred this status by the UGC. The beginnings of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham can be traced to 1994 when a School of Engineering was started in an obscure village named Ettimadai, at the foothills of Bouluvanpatty ranges of the Western Ghats in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Nallamuthu Gounder and the Secretaryship of Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam. The organisation took efforts to establish a College at Pollachi. Shri C. Based on the recommendation of the Royal Commission on Agriculture, the college was upgraded to impart degree in veterinary science. Although the college was the fourth veterinary institution to be started in India, it was first veterinary college in the country to be affiliated to a university, the University of Madras in 1935 and the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.) degree course was started in 1936. Stella Maris College is managed by the Sisters of the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. Blessed Mary of the Passion was born on May 21, 1838 in Nantes, France. Since her earliest years God had placed his hand on her and was forming her for a challenging mission through the difficult circumstances of her life. She came to India in 1865 at the age of 26 as a Sister of the Marie Reparatrix Congregation and worked in Tamil Nadu for 11 years having mastered Tamil, the local language. Her love for the people who affectionately called her Passion Thayar, and her bold missionary initiatives for development work and the empowerment of women met with resistance, confrontation and misunderstandings by the local church. Under very oppressive circumstances, she and a group of Reparatrix sisters decided to withdraw from the Marie Reparatrix Congregation. She returned to Rome in November 1876 in order to explain her situation. The Holy Father, having heard her, asked her to write a Rule of Life as she perceived life in the Missions. Her Rule of Life was approved by Pope Pius IX on January 6, 1877 and the Institute of the Missionaries of Mary was born. Later in 1882 she affiliated the Institute to the Franciscan Order and the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary came into being.

Jamal Mohamed College
Jamal Mohamed College was founded in 1951, as an affiliated college to the University of Madras and then affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, when it was formed in 1982. Jamal Mohamed College is situated in the central part of Tamil Nadu, Tiruchirappali city. It was established as a religious minority institution with the primary objective of providing higher education to the downtrodden and socially backward section of the society in general and Muslim minority in particular.The college is administered by the Society of Jamal Mohamed College. It is established in a sprawling land area of 87 acres, as a religious minority institution. Hajee M. Jamal Mohamed Sahib and Janab N.M. Khajamian Rowther , of revered memory, were the founding fathers of this institution.
Bharathidasan University
The University's main Campus was initially located in a sprawling area of over 1000 acres in Palkalaiperur. However, as years passed on, the South Campus at Palkalaiperur with the available infrastructure was donated to the newly started Anna University of Technology. Very recently, another portion of the land has been allotted to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Tiruchirappalli. Also, the University has a downtown campus at Khajamalai, which housed originally the Autonomous Post-Graduate Centre of the University of Madras at Tiruchirappalli.
Holy Cross College
Holy Cross College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli is a highly reputed Arts and Science College for women in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a Catholic Institution established in the year 1923 for the benefit of the young girls of Tiruchirappalli when higher education for women was considered almost a transgression against the age-old respected customs concerning higher education for girls, it has a unique history with excellence for the Nine and a half decades. Holy Cross College admits students, irrespective of their caste, creed, and state. The college administered by the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod, Province of Tiruchirappalli, is affiliated to the Bharathidasan University and it is one of the oldest colleges for women in South India.
IIM Trichy
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) is the eleventh IIM and was instituted on 4th January 2011. NITT Tiruchirappalli
The National Institute of Technology (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli, situated in the heart of Tamil Nadu on the banks of the river Cauvery, was started as a joint and co-operative venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu during 1964 with a view to catering to the needs of man-power in technology for the Country. The College has subsequently been conferred with autonomy in financial and administrative matters to achieve rapid development. Because of this rich experience, this institution was granted Deemed University Status with the approval of the University Grants Commission, the All India Council for Technical Education and the Govt. of India in the year 2003 and was renamed as National Institute of Technology. NITT was registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1975. During 2007 by the act of parliament, NIT-T became an Institution of National Importance.
St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli
St. Joseph's College is an affiliated First Grade College of the Bharathidasan University. It was established in 1844 by the Fathers of Society of Jesus (The Jesuits). It was affiliated to the then Madras University in 1866. The College celebrated its centenary in 1944 and sesquicentenary in 1995. The College is owned by the Society of St. Joseph's, a body registered under Societies Regulation Act(1860), having its office at Tiruchirappalli.
BHC
For four years from 1968 to 1972, the College functioned in two places, the Pre-University Classes at Teppakulam and the Degree Classes at Puthur. The College grew not only in strength but also in popularity and academic excellence and attracted students from all over Tamil Nadu. In the meantime, the College managed to secure financial aid from the Protestant Central Agency for Co-operation in Development, Bonn,Germany, for the construction of its permanent buildings.The building scheme was taken in hand early in 1970 and four new buildings were opened in 1972. Many more buildings have since been added and the College now has a beautiful campus with lovely gardens.
MSU
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) is a dynamic institution of higher learning, set in a rural milieu of southern Tamil Nadu, with a campus spread of 550 acres. It is named after the renowned Tamil Poet scholar, Professor P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the author of the famous verse drama Manonmaniam. It is his poem that has become “Tamil Thaai Vazhthu” the official invocation song sung in all functions in Tamilnadu.
KARE
It was granted deemed to be university status in 2006. In November 2017, following a directive by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to drop the "University" from the name. Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering was established in 1984 by the pioneering Kalasalingam Anandam Ammal Charities. Located at the pristine foothills of scenic Western Ghats, the college obtained the Deemed to be University status in 2006. The Institution has been serving the society for thirty four long years and it caters to the needs of the students from all walks of the society.
VHNSNC
The benefit of education, let alone higher education, was a distant dream for the poor people of Virudhunagar region until the nineteen forties. It was in the backdrop that the philanthropic and munificent members of the merchant community of this town were longing for a college of their own. Rao Bahadur Senthikumara Nadar was appointed the Patron of the college. In 1948, the Hindu Nadar Mahamai Tharappu took over the administration of the college.
CUTN
Government of India founded the Central University of Tamil Nadu, along with eight other Central Universities, through an Act of Parliament in 2009. It is part of the greater role that the Central Government assumed in making higher education accessible to aspirants from the weaker sections of the society. With eight students in M.A. English Studies, the university started functioning from November 2009, at the Collectorate Annexe at Thiruvarur, 60 kilometers to the east of Thanjavur. But today the University sits astride a major tributary of the famous Cauvery river in the heart of the Delta seven kilometers to the north-west of Thiruvarur.
CMC Vellore
The Christian Medical College, Vellore, now offers Medical graduate, postgraduate (diploma and degree), and higher specialty courses, graduate and post graduate courses in Nursing, and several degree and diploma Allied Health Science courses as well as courses in Bioengineering. Today there are over 2800 beds for in-patients and over 8000 outpatients are treated daily in the mainhospital and in peripheral units.
Dr N G P Arts and Science College
Dr.Thavamani D. Palaniswami are the driving force of the institution. The College began its educational journey with 4 Under Graduate programmes, now it is emerging as the one of the top self-financing colleges in Tamil Nadu. It is a co-educational autonomous college, affiliated to the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Also, it is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC act 1956 by University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The college was accredited by the NAAC with “A” Grade with the CPGA of 3.17 in the second cycle, March 17, 2016. Our college is consecutively ranked at the national level within 100 ranks by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and ARIIA-2019 by MHRD. In the Institution, MHRD’s Institution Innovation Council (IIC) was established to cater for the innovation and undergraduate research among students. Sacred Heart College
Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Carreno SDB, a far-sighted missionary from Spain founded Sacred Heart College in the year 1951. It started functioning with 10 teachers and 81 students and in a short period of seven decades, it has grown into a postgraduate and research institution. With the view to cater to the needs of the deserving local students, the college also offers undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses in the Shft-II on self-financing basis. Recognizing its academic contributions, the University of Madras conferred the autonomous status on the postgraduate courses of MSW (Social Work) and M.Sc. (Mathematics) from the academic year 1987-88. Subsequently, in the year 1988-89, autonomous status was conferred on the postgraduate course of M.A. (Economics) and on all the undergraduate courses.
