Barkatullah University, originally known as Bhopal University, was founded in 1970 in Madhya Pradesh's capital. The university was later changed to Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988, to honour the famed independent activist Professor. Barkatullah, who was born in Bhopal. Hostels

The campus is home to three boys' hostels as well as three girls' hostels. Additionally, the students in a cooperative manner take care of the mess.
