Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society, is the oldest research and training institute in Economics in the country.
Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics is among the most well-known institutions in India. It is also among the most renowned universities within the field it serving. It was established in year 1993. it is located in Pune, Maharashtra. Additionally, it is a recognized university.
It is committed to the study of the socio-economic side of Indian society. It also advances the legacy of Gopal Krishna Gokhale, which, when he achieved political independence, founded an organization called the Indian Society in 1905 to encourage education and strengthen the capability of Indians to lead the nation. Through the Societies Registry Act of 1860 and the 1950 Bombay Govt Trusts Act the Institute was registered. The Institute also has built significant research and descriptive backgrounds throughout its history.

Since the time that the Institute was founded, the PhD program is very selective in its admissions which results in a low rate of turnover. Since the time that the Institute was founded and 165 students have been awarded a Ph.D. in various fields of Economics.
M Sc. Economics
The goal of the program is to create an extensive and well-rounded theoretical foundation for economics and its use among undergraduates and to improve their skills and abilities in the management, banking and business analysis sectors and corporate organisations, government and non-profits, and also regulators, both in the United States as well as international.
M Sc. Financial Economics
The program is based on Financial Economics, the Master's program differs from standard financial institutions due to the fact that it focuses on the three-way interaction between macroeconomics financial markets , and financial regulators.
M.Sc. in Agriculture Business
Three essential modules are available in the academic curriculum including an economic component along with a management course along with an agricultural-related business component. The hostel can be found in three locations: one for males , and two for females. The hostels are situated on a residential site. Students at present are in dorms with appropriate accommodation.
Guesthouses, dormitories, and health facilities are also located on campus. Hostels. A, B, C, D, E, F, and G are in conjunction with all staff quarters, academic or not.
The Residential Campus Institute features a beautiful guesthouse (12 rooms). The Guesthouse is reserved to the Administration and the UGC as well as those attending the various symposiums organized at the institute/dept.
Candidates must show up to take an entrance test in order to be eligible to be considered for admission into B.Sc, MA, M.Sc and Ph.D courses. Candidates who pass the entrance test will be invited for an interview. Candidates who have completed their M.Phil Degree from a recognized university via regular or distance mode and have passed the UGC-NET (including JRF)/ SLET Teacher Fellowship holders are exempt from the entrance exam of the institute, however they must still attend an interview.
