St. Xavier's College, Kolkata West Bengal was established in the year 1860 as a Private (Autonomous) Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Management, Humanities, and Science. SXC is approved by the reputed UGC, accredited by NAAC-A, and is affiliated with the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. Management of SXC Kolkata is working under Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio S.J. (Principal).

Courses Offered

St. Xavier's College courses are offered at various levels like  Undergraduate Degrees i.e BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) in Statistics, etc., Postgraduate Degrees i.e Master of Commerce (M.Com.) Accounting and Finance, Master of Arts (MA) Bengali, Master of Science (M.Sc.) The college has hostels for both boys and girls. The boys' and girls' hostel has triple-sharing, double-sharing, and single rooms. Mess is provided in the hostels.

The Central Library of the institute has a collection of thousands of books, old and rare books, reference books, journals, educational CDs/DVDs, and a large number of e-books, e-journals, and other resources. Web OPAC system is installed in the library. The library has a subscription to numerous periodicals, including both journals and magazine dailies. The library also has Institutional Membership with British Council Library and American Library.

The auditorium of the institute has a large seating capacity. It is an ideal place to organize celebrations, discussions, cultural events, and other events.

The institute has well-equipped Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Computer Science, Microbiology, and Biotechnology Labs. These labs provide good practical training to the students.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The canteen of the institute serves hygienic and nutritious food of multiple cuisines at reasonable prices. It is a common place to hang out for the students, staff, and faculty.

Placement

The Placement Cell of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata creates a platform where students can showcase their talents which different companies seek to explore and utilize. Starting from 2003, we have successfully placed a large section of graduates who have appeared for placements. This year especially, the performance has been overwhelming. The Placement Cell is headed by Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio – SJ, Principal, and Dr. Amitava Roy the Co-ordinator. The Cell is led by the Placement officer Mr. Niladri Sinha along with the Placement Advisory Board which consists of Professors and final-year students from various departments.

Initially, companies are invited to take part in the recruitment drive. Interested companies register with us for recruitment, for the year. The students are intimated and a vast number register for the interview.
