Tamil Nadu Open University is an Indian institution for open and distance learning established by the government of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 2002 and is based in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Open University was established as a result that the government of Tamil Nadu has enacted in its TNOU Act of 2000. TNOU provides a digital library which includes organizational papers and E-books. TNOU University provides the facilities for disabled and reserved category students in the form of exempted tuition fees. The following scholarships are offered to students:
SC/ ST students who pursue distance learning are eligible to receive reimbursement for tuition fees provided they are employed and their annual income for parents is not more than INR 1,00,000. Students should apply for scholarship on the prescribed format to be received at the Offices of Adi Dravidar/ Tribal Welfare Department along with the necessary documents.
Students with disabilities who are enrolled in the Program within the institution can be eligible to receive tuition fee exempt.
There are University Placements are available to all candidates via the dedicated Placement Portal that has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of students and recruiters. To date, TNOU has placed over 60,000 students and is constantly striving to provide the most effective placement opportunities for students. TNOU provides a variety of seminars, guest lectures and webinars, conferences Corporate Meetings and Individual Development & Communication Skills Programs and counseling sessions to prepare the student for a job in society.
Admission
Students who are interested in B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BCA and BBA courses must have passed the 10+2 test by a recognized board.
People who have applied to M.Com., M.A., M.Com. and M.Sc. courses must have completed bachelor's degree courses that have been approved by an accredited board.
Candidates who want to apply for MBA courses must have a the degree of Bachelor's in any discipline of an accredited university.
The minimum mark needed to be eligible to be admitted into the MBA program is at minimum 50% marks in your the undergraduate course.
Admission to the course will be based on merit in the qualifying test along with counseling.
Admission to the undergraduate program is contingent upon the completion of 10+2 or the TNOU BPP, which is conducted in the Tamil Nadu Open University.
Candidates admitted with a score of less than 10+2 in the Bachelor degree program must at least finish an Bachelor of Preparatory Program to be qualified for the degree program.
These examinations are scheduled to take place before the beginning of the Semester exam.

Counseling is provided by the University in different locations throughout the State. The sessions for counselling are held in between March and May and September-November.
The applicants can apply simultaneously to participate in any one year Certificate Program as well as a Certificate Program with a duration of six months.
