The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is also popularly known as the most accepted and liked exam for graduate business school admissions. The GMAT 2026 syllabus stipulates the different topics that will be examined for the test.

These subjects are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Analytical Writing Assessment. The Verbal Reasoning section examines a candidate's skill to understand and analyse written texts, whereas the Quantitative Reasoning section assesses a candidate's skill to interpret quantitative information and solve mathematical problems.

The GMAT syllabus for the GMAT Focus Edition differs from the GMAT syllabus for the current exam. AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) and SC (Sentence Correction) have been removed. Additionally, a new section called Data Insights (DI) has been published, based on IR (Integrated Reasoning) and also includes DS (Data Sufficiency). GMAT Exam Syllabus 2026: Overview

The GMAT Focus Edition syllabus is divided into three sections, which total 2 hours and 15 minutes. The GMAT Focus Edition syllabus includes several topics distributed over the given sections:

1. Quantitative Reasoning Section
2. Verbal Reasoning Section
3. Data Insights Section

1. Critical Reasoning

The GMAT Critical Reasoning course includes various forms of arguments that test candidates' ability to analyse argument structure, assess arguments and assumptions, create or assess a plan of action, make an argument stronger/weaker, complete an argument, etc.

2. Reading Comprehension

It measures the candidates' ability to make inferences, recognise logical connections among important points, comprehend words and statements, and trace the evolution of quantitative concepts. The GMAT Reading Comprehension (RC) syllabus consists of short and long passages where candidates are examined on the following reading abilities: inference, application, main idea, supporting the idea, logical structure, and style.
