The HSEE 2026 Selection Process has been designed to evaluate a candidate's aptitude and analytical abilities for entry into the Humanities and Social Sciences subjects at IIT Madras. The selection process is, by and large, a computer-based test (CBT), which is a single-stage test of the candidate's ability in four areas: English, analytical reasoning, quantitative ability, and general studies. In order to be eligible for consideration for the final merit list, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks, which will have been determined by the candidate's performance on the test. After individuals have been selected to compose the final merit list, selected candidates will be offered admission through the counseling process on the official channel.
In order to be considered eligible for HSEE 2026 a candidate would have to meet a few steps for pre-requisites, such as registering online, taking the entrance examination, receiving results, and then undergoing counseling. This exam is intended to gauge the language comprehension and use of various English skills, the students’ understanding in general as well as their analytical skills. Through the selection method, this basic criterion is designed for ensuring that every candidate considered for the participant in the counseling session the most, is also, in fact, the best performer of the test interviews.
Upon completion of the entrance exams, successful shortlisted candidates are expected to appear for a counseling process during which programs of their interest will be allocated to them at IIT Madras.
