- Selection Process
The PU CET 2026 selection process is carried out by Panjab University for both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. After the entrance examination, candidates are selected based on performance and merit in the test. A merit list is generated based on marks gained in PU CET, and according to the eligibility requirements set for each program. The qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the counselling procedure in order of merit/rank in the category and with respect to availability of seats. The candidates will be required to verify their documents for confirmation of admission, and an admission fee will be charged to confirm the provided admission seat in the selected program.
The basic purpose of PU CET 2026 selection processes is to test eligibility and academic level of the applicants. Therefore, the process starts with the entrance examination- PU CET for a specific lateral entry program that each applicant plans to enroll. Those applicants who meet the cutoff marks and score Gauss percentage on the targeted examination are to be guided on the next step of the process which is counseling in conjunction with verifying documents that the set standard requirements of the program have been met. Final selection is specifically based on the candidate’s performance as well as the number of seats available on the respective courses for instance health care conditions.
The PU CET 2026 selection process is organized by Panjab University to enroll students into several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The selection process for different programs only begins once candidates register online and complete the application form accurately. Eligibility for examinations will be determined based on an assessment of subject knowledge and aptitude type for undergraduate or postgraduate studies. Following examinations, and a university-run merit list will be published based on candidate's results. Candidates will then be shortlisted and go through the counselling process (document verification, seat assignment, etc).

Step 1: PU CET Exam |
The examination consists of written tests in subjects like Physics , Chemistry, and Biology and Mathematics according to the respective course for which a candidate applied for. |

Step 2: Result Declaration |
As the test is conducted, the result is published with reference to the marks scored in the said test. Those candidates who score the necessary cutoff marks are then selected for the next stage of selection. |

Step 3: Counseling Process |
Candidates who qualify the preliminary tests will be invited to attend counseling for their choice of courses and colleges to opt for. The allotment of seats was at first based on the merit ranking and the numbers on hand. |

Step 4: Document Verification |
Councilors should carry original documents for verification to the admission committee to prove their eligible status during the counseling. |

Step 5: Final Admission |
Final admissions are therefore awarded to candidates who have successfully completed all the required procedures regarding counseling and document verification. |

Academic Certificates |
Applicants are required to furnish a copy of their class ten, twelve, and university graduation mark sheets at the time of screening. |

Applicants from the reserved category should provide the original caste certificate. |

Passport-size Photographs |
Documents required during the counseling usually include two to three recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant. |
