About Master of Library Science (MLibSc)

 

The Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) programme is a one-year professional postgraduate programme covering advanced library principles and information science techniques. Planning and Management, Computer Basics and Applications, Library Management, Research Methodology, Statistical Techniques, and other topics are covered.

Library management, research abilities, managing information technology or systems, and other skills are included in the programme. Other than library-related activities, this curriculum places a greater focus on handling and accessing all sorts of information.

 

The advanced study of library and information science concepts and methods and modern technology applied to these processes are covered in this course. Students learn the fundamentals of IT science as well as library administration skills in this curriculum. It primarily covers collection management, information systems and technology, categorization and cataloguing, research methods, preservation, database management, statistics, information architecture, reference, and knowledge management, among other topics. Pupils must satisfy the following qualifying conditions to obtain a Master of Library and Information Science degree:

  • Pupils must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50 per cent-60 per cent aggregate.
  • Students must be between the ages of 20 and 22 to apply for this programme.
  • Candidates with either a bachelor's degree in library and information science or a bachelor's degree in library science will be prioritized.
  • A minimum grade point average of 50% in high school is also one of the requirements for entrance to this programme.
