The B.Sc in Operation Theatre Technology course is a basic course of graduation dealing with Ethics, operation theatre preparation work, and managing the pieces of equipment needed during surgery. There should be an operating theatre technician in the operating room and assist physicians and nurses during surgery. They must specialize in all surgical instruments prior to surgery, clean these necessary devices prior to surgery, and follow the surgeon’s instructions during surgery.

In this course, students learn patient care before and after surgery. They're also taught how to help surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses maintain sterility in operating rooms by using the sterilisation and disinfection procedure. The programme allows students to study both core and elective areas, making it incredibly flexible and diversified. In addition, the curriculum provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a practical context through laboratory workshops. All hospitals in India employ Operation Theater Technologists to perform various surgeries such as Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Gynecological Surgery, Neurosurgery and Urology.

 

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Operation Theatre Technology


  • Candidates must complete a 10+2 examination with 50 percent aggregate (considering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as a whole) from a recognised board in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
  • In all of the above courses, the cut-off marks for reserved category candidates are 40%.
  • The candidate must pass each of the three subjects listed above in a single attempt.
  • Candidates who are currently enrolled in another programme are ineligible for admission. It is a regular full-time programme. Candidates who complete or resign from the course before the day of counselling will, however, be eligible for admission.
