The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body to conduct a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promote development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth and regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University was established on May 1st, 1983, with the primary aim of addressing the educational needs, especially in rural areas, of western Vidarbha. Its jurisdiction spans across five districts of Vidarbha, namely Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana, and Washim. Over the years, the university has witnessed remarkable growth, currently accommodating approximately 400,000 students. Spread across 470.63 acres, the university campus hosts 28 Teaching Departments, a Model Degree College in Buldana, and four Faculties, catering comprehensively to students' academic needs.Emphasizing inclusive education, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University is committed to uplifting the disadvantaged sections of society.
