Medical Facilities
The 100-bed Composite Hospital at Tekanpur is among the first CPO’s Hospitals under the Composite Hospital Scheme sanctioned by the Government of India and commenced operations in November 1997. The hospital provides medical care for various day-to-day needs and specializes in Gynae/Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, and ENT.
The main beneficiaries include a significant number of retired BSF personnel and their families residing near the Academy campus, trainees attending basic/in-service courses, and a substantial transient population on temporary duties at the Academy.
We also offer emergency treatment to the local civilian population on humanitarian grounds.
The hospital offers advanced physiotherapy and occupational therapy services for post-operative trauma cases, such as spinal injuries resulting in paraplegia, PIVD operated cases, ligament injuries, disabilities from bullet and accidental injuries, and exercise-related injuries. The hospital receives referrals for such cases from all field formations of BSF.
On average, the hospital treats around 320 outpatients daily, occasionally reaching up to 450. The average indoor occupancy rate is approximately 50%.
To maintain preventive health measures, routine medical check-ups of all BSF personnel are conducted, periodic sanitation rounds of the Academy Campus are carried out, and water samples from all sources are tested for purity. Administrative authorities are promptly informed about specific waterborne and communicable diseases to take necessary remedial and preventive actions. Circulars about preventive measures for seasonal diseases are distributed to all BSF Academy sub-units.
Health awareness programs, immunization drives, blood donation camps, and family planning workshops are organized regularly. Lectures on various health topics are also provided to basic trainees.
Medical assistance is also provided during outdoor exercises, artillery firing, cross-country, and commando exercises.
