The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) operates as an independent entity under the governance of the Maharashtra state government, entrusted with the regulation of diploma-level technical education within the region. Over the years, MSBTE has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in education through various initiatives aimed at curriculum development and its effective implementation. These efforts include faculty development programs, student-centric initiatives, fostering collaboration between academia and industry, academic monitoring, and the introduction of online evaluation methods. Recognizing the evolving needs of the industry, MSBTE has expanded its scope to include skill development activities, thereby enriching its service offerings. Furthermore, in response to the demand for curriculum revisions to align with industry expectations, MSBTE has successfully implemented updated curricular frameworks since the academic year 2017-18. This proactive approach addresses the crucial aspect of employability, ensuring that diploma students are equipped with the relevant skills and knowledge required by the industry.
