The Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Communication at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University in Navi Mumbai is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). and Affiliated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University Navi Mumbai, the faculty is recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality education in arts, humanities, and communication disciplines.
As per the provisions outlined in the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE Act of 1987, during its initial five years following its establishment in 1988, the Council was chaired by the Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India. A full-time Chairman was appointed on July 2, 1993, marking a significant transition. Subsequently, in March 1994, the Council underwent reconstitution with a term duration of three years. The Executive Committee was similarly re-constituted on July 7, 1994, while the formation of the All India Board of Studies and Advisory Boards occurred during the academic year 1994-95. Notably, the Regional Offices of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, situated in Kolkata, Chennai, Kanpur, and Mumbai were transferred to AICTE. Concurrently, the staff employed in these offices were deputed to the Council under foreign service terms, effective from October 1, 1995.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) operates as a statutory body within the Ministry of Education, Government of India, inaugurated through an Act of Parliament in 1956. Its mandate encompasses the promotion and coordination of university education, along with the task of establishing and upholding standards in teaching, examinations, and research across universities. Serving under the purview of this Act, the Commission undertakes various functions crucial to the advancement of higher education. Apart from disbursing grants to qualifying universities and colleges, the UGC assumes an advisory role, offering guidance to both Central and State Governments on initiatives essential for the progression of higher education.
