The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) operates as an autonomous body under the Government of Maharashtra, entrusted with the regulation of Diploma Level Technical education across the state. One of its primary functions is the development and implementation of a dynamic curriculum that aligns with industry needs and standards. MSBTE has been instrumental in enhancing the quality of technical education through various initiatives such as faculty development programs, student development activities, fostering industry-institution interaction, and implementing effective academic monitoring and online evaluation systems. Additionally, MSBTE has expanded its scope to include skill development activities, thereby enriching its portfolio of services. Recognizing the evolving demands of the industry, MSBTE has recently revised its curriculum to better equip diploma students with the skills and knowledge necessary for employability. Looking ahead, there is a commitment to further enhance the efficiency of MSBTE's processes through the adoption of advanced technological solutions and improved evaluation techniques, all aimed at benefiting the students and other stakeholders associated with technical education in Maharashtra.
