Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training, Chennai Admission is open for all UG and PG courses for the academic session 2024-25. The application fees depend on the program in which program you want to be admitted. The Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training is also accepting applications for Lateral Entry Courses, Online Degree Programs, and Distance Education Courses.

The institute offers B.Tech. under the discipline of Marine Engineering for four years. The institute also offers admission to the program via Lateral Entry.
B.Tech.- Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM), and English as subjects with 60% marks in PCM and at least 50% marks in English.
B.Tech. (Lateral Entry)- Candidates must have a Diploma in Mechanical/Marine Engineering (completed within 3 years from joining) from AICTE-approved colleges with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and must have passed English with at least 50% marks in either 10th or 12th standard
Selection is done based on IMU-CET Scores. Candidates who will clear the entrance test are called upon for the Psychometric Test and Medical Examination followed by a Panel Interview and Pre-Sea Training.
The institute offers a B.Sc. under the discipline of Nautical Science for three years.

HIMT offers a one-year-long course leading to a Class IV Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency, awarded by the Directorate General of Shipping (Government of India), after six months of sea service, enabling the cadets to become Marine Engineers on board Merchant Naval ships anywhere in the world. This course is strictly residential.
B.E/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Academics degree or B.E/B. Tech in marine engineering with a minimum 50% mark in the final ear. The candidate has obtained at least 50% in English at 10th/12th standard. or degree course
Maximum 28 years of age at the time of commencement of the course.
Admission to the program will be based on the merit secured by the candidate in the last qualifying examination. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the admission procedure.
Selected candidates will undergo a stringent medical examination with a DGS-approved doctor.
Aside from the above-mentioned programs, the institute also offers Electro-Technical Officers (ETO) and Orientation Course for Catering Personnel (OCCP) at the Pre Sea Level.

OCCP- Candidates must have passed class X or XII from a recognized board with 40% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in English at 10th and 12th standard.
Degree or Diploma Certificate in Hospitality and Hotel Administration Hotel Management and Catering Technology, or Catering, Culinary Arts, or Hospitality and Tourism of a minimum six-month duration.
Admission will be granted based on HIMT Online Entrance Test (HIMT OET) scores, Psychometric Test, Medical examination, Panel Interview, and Pre-Sea Training.
