The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 with the objective of serving as a national-level apex advisory body. Its primary mandate was to conduct a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and to facilitate coordinated and integrated development initiatives across the country. The AICTE Act was enacted to formalize the establishment of this council, aiming to ensure proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system nationwide. Additionally, the Act aimed to promote qualitative enhancements alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as to regulate and maintain norms and standards within the technical education system.

The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) is an autonomous body under the Government of Maharashtra tasked with regulating matters related to Diploma Level Technical education in the state. Over the years, MSBTE has demonstrated its commitment to curriculum development and effective implementation strategies through various initiatives such as faculty development programs, student development initiatives, industry-institution interaction, academic monitoring, and online evaluation activities. Recently, MSBTE has also ventured into skill development activities, expanding its scope of service.
Recognizing the evolving needs of the industry, MSBTE has undertaken the revision of curricula to better align with the expectations of employers, particularly for diploma students. This initiative, implemented from the academic year 2017-18, aims to enhance the employability of students by ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge demanded by the industry.
Drawing from insights gained through close association with the education system and feedback from stakeholders, there is a concerted effort to overhaul various processes and embrace advanced technological implementation and evaluation techniques. These endeavors are geared towards enhancing the learning experience and outcomes for students, ultimately benefiting all stakeholders involved in technical education.
