The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

KBPIMSR Accreditations by NAAC

NAAC operates through its General Council (GC) and Executive Committee (EC), which comprise educational administrators, policymakers, and senior academicians from various sectors of the Indian higher education system. The President of the UGC serves as the President of the GC of NAAC, while an eminent academician nominated by the President of the GC chairs the EC. The Director serves as the academic and administrative head of NAAC and is the member-secretary of both the GC and the EC. Additionally, NAAC receives guidance from advisory and consultative committees formed periodically to advise on its policies and activities.

KBPIMSR Affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur

Shivaji University, established in 1962, derives its name from the esteemed Maratha warrior and founder of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India, inaugurated the university on November 18, 1962. The primary objective of founding this institution was to address the educational needs of South Maharashtra. The university's jurisdiction spans across three districts—Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara—where approximately 300,000 students are enrolled in 280 affiliated colleges and recognized institutes. This region boasts a rich socio-cultural heritage, nurtured under the visionary leadership of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, who pioneered educational opportunities for all sections of society. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, a prominent figure from this region, advocated for widespread access to education through his innovative 'Earn and Learn' scheme. The establishment of Shivaji University in 1962 aimed to provide rural youth with access to higher education and to promote fundamental and applied research in science and humanities for regional growth and development.

Since its inception, the university has experienced significant growth. Initially starting with 34 affiliated colleges and approximately 14,000 students, it has now expanded to 280 affiliated colleges and a student population of 300,000. The university houses 34 postgraduate departments, offering education across ten major faculties, including Arts, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Education, Fine Arts, Law, Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, Engineering, and Technology.

Approval by AICTE

As per law, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require approval.
