College of Agriculture, Vellayani offers a Bachelor of Honors Degree in Agriculture [B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture] as a part of their undergraduate program. The admission for the course is based on the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Govt. of Kerala (KEAM). The candidate applying for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, should have passed 10+2 examinations with a minimum of 50% marks in Biology and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology put together, from a recognized board or equivalent accepted by the University. For SC/ST candidates the minimum eligibility is a pass in all the above-mentioned subjects.
The College of Agriculture, Vellayani is granted admission for Master's Degree courses in 16 different specializations. The students seeking admission to any of these PG courses should take the written test and should clear the interview conducted by the Kerala Agricultural University. The applicant must apply online on the KAU website and send the hard copy of the application forms along with the needed documents to the University. A Bachelor’s Degree in the respective subject or equivalent degree recognized by the University is the basic eligibility to apply for the Master’s Program.
College of Agriculture, Vellayani offers Research programs in 14 different disciplines. The institute accepts admission for all the seats including both University seats and ICAR seats for the academic year 2019. The application and prospectus can be downloaded from the University website once the official notification is released. As a part of the admission process, the candidate has to clear a personal interview conducted by the University. The admission criteria for all the courses are based on the overall assessment of the candidate.
For applying to all the Ph.D. programs (except Home Science), the candidate should have completed a Master’s Degree in the respective discipline or related discipline from the faculty concerned of KAU or should have a recognized equivalent qualification with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 (6.5/10.0 for SC/ST). Moreover, a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/ Agri.Engineering/ Forestry is essential for all disciplines.
To apply to the Home Science (FS&N) Research program, the candidate should have a Master's Degree in Home Science with a specialization in Food Science and Nutrition or should have a Master's Degree in Food Science and Nutrition recognized by KAU with an OGPA of 7.0/10. (6.5/10.0 for SC/ST) or 60% marks in any of the above degrees under a traditional system.
B.Sc. – M.Sc. (integrated) Biotechnology is an intensive 5-year course offered by this Institute. The students with the basic eligibility of 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board can apply for this course. The selection process is based on the entrance exam conducted by the University. The course allotment is based on the rank list of the students who have qualified for the entrance examination. This list will be published on the University website. The application forms and prospectus are available on the KAU website. The applicant has to complete the application and send the hard copy of it to the University with the suitable documents needed.
The candidate enrolling for the B.Sc. – M.Sc. (integrated) Biotechnology course should have passed 10+2 / equivalent recognized by the university with a minimum of 50% marks in science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology/ Mathematics). A pass is sufficient for SC/ST candidates to apply.
