The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) operates as an autonomous body under the Government of Maharashtra, entrusted with regulating Diploma Level Technical education across the state. Over the years, MSBTE has prioritized curriculum development and its effective implementation through a range of strategies, including faculty development programs, student initiatives, industry collaboration, academic oversight, and online evaluation mechanisms. These efforts have been pivotal in maintaining the board's reputation for excellence. In recent times, MSBTE has expanded its scope to include skill development initiatives, reflecting its commitment to meeting evolving industry demands. Recognizing the crucial role of curriculum revision in enhancing employability, MSBTE undertook a significant overhaul to align with industry requirements, a process successfully implemented from the academic year 2017-18. Drawing on extensive experience within the system and informed by stakeholder feedback, there is a concerted effort to enhance processes, embrace technological advancements, and adopt more effective evaluation techniques for the betterment of students and all involved parties.
