The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

Established in 1998 under the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Act 13, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) sprawls over a campus of approximately 247 acres, aiming to evolve into a center of excellence in technical education, research, and innovation. It encompasses 05 University Teaching Departments (UTDs), 200 affiliated engineering colleges, 98 pharmacy colleges, 95 MCA colleges, and 04 architecture colleges. This network imparts graduate-level education across 17 undergraduate courses and hosts 85 polytechnic institutions offering diploma programs in various disciplines, both emerging and conventional. Nestled amidst picturesque and hilly surroundings, RGPV has expanded its offerings to include Ph.D. programs and 11 postgraduate courses. The university embraces modernization, reflected in its robust online presence and a diverse range of courses catering to a wide array of interests. RGPV's curriculum spans fields such as management, forensic science, fashion, engineering, space sciences, social work, nanotechnology, communication, and pharmacy.
