The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body to conduct a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promote development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTM), located in Nanded, Maharashtra, was established on September 17, 1994, under the auspices of the Government of Maharashtra. Serving the southern region of the Marathwada area, which includes Nanded, Latur, Parbhani, and Hingoli districts, the university has gained recognition and acclaim at the state, national, and international levels for its academic, research, and innovative endeavors. The university oversees more than 300 affiliated colleges, offering a diverse range of 146 programs to over 1.63 lakh students. Additionally, it accommodates over 4,000 students through distance education programs covering science and technology, humanities, commerce, management, and interdisciplinary studies. SRTM University boasts a multicultural environment, hosting over 70 foreign students from five countries. The institution receives financial support from various entities like RUSA, DST, and UGC, facilitating the development of academic infrastructure, research activities, and extension programs. With a focus on academic excellence, SRTM University encourages research and innovation among its faculty and students, resulting in numerous patented inventions and research projects valued at Rs. 12.5 crores. Furthermore, the university maintains collaborations with prestigious institutions like the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics and has signed MoUs with national and international organizations to foster academic and research exchanges. Implementing a credit transfer policy, SRTM University reimburses fees for students opting for courses offered on platforms like NPTEL, SWAYM, and other MOOC platforms, enhancing enrollment and expanding educational opportunities.
