Miranda House UG Courses Admission 2023-24

Miranda House offers UG courses in different specializations. The courses offered are BA program, BA (Hons.), B.Sc. B.Sc. (Hons.) and B.El.Ed. Candidates applying to any of the mentioned courses must qualify for a 10+2 level exam in the relevant stream. Admission to these courses will be granted based on CUET scores.

Miranda House UG Eligibility Criteria

Miranda House course-wise eligibility criteria and respective subjects that the candidates need to choose in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) are tabulated below:

B.A (Hons) Bengali Candidates can choose from combination I: Bengali from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 or combination II: Any one language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must qualify in their 10th and 12th class in CBSE or equivalent to that with a total of 40 percent marks or 45 percent marks along with 50 percent marks in relevant specialization.
B.A (Hons) Geography Anyone Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must qualify in their 10th and 12th class in CBSE or equivalent to that with a total of 40 percent marks or 45 percent marks along with 50 percent marks in relevant specialization.
B.A (Hons) Hindi Hindi from List A with any two subjects from List B1 and any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must have completed 10th and 12th class with a minimum of 45 percent marks in total
B.A (Hons) History Any language from List A with any two subjects from List B1 and any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must have completed 10th and 12th class with a minimum of 45 percent marks in total
B.A (Hons) Philosophy Anyone Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must qualify in their 10th and 12th class in CBSE or equivalent to that with a total of 40 percent marks or 45 percent marks along with 50 percent marks in relevant specialization.
B.A (Hons) Political Science Any language from List A with any two subjects from List B1 and any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must have completed 10th and 12th class with a minimum of 45 percent marks in total
B.A (Hons) Sanskrit Candidates can choose combination I: Any one Language from List A with Sanskrit from List B1 and any two subjects out of which one should be from List B1 or combination II: Any language from List A with Sanskrit from List A and any two subjects out of which one should be from List B1 or combination III: Sanskrit from List A with any two subjects from List B1 and any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 or combination IV: Any one Language from List A with any two subjects from List B1 and any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must have completed 10th and 12th class with a minimum of 45 percent marks in total
B.A (Hons) Sociology Anyone Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must qualify in their 10th and 12th class in CBSE or equivalent to that with a total of 40 percent marks or 45 percent marks along with 50 percent marks in relevant specialization.
B.A Candidates can choose combination I: Any one Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 or combination II: Any one language from List A + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 + SECTION III of CUET (General Test) Candidates must pass their 10th and 12th class exams from the CBSE Board or equivalent to that with 40 percent marks.
B.EL.Ed Anyone Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Candidates must pass their 10th and 12th class exams from the CBSE Board or equivalent to that with 40 percent marks.
B.Sc (Hons) Botany Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biological Studies/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry Candidates must have 55 percent marks in Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Biotechnology in HSC
B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics Candidates need 55 percent in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics with 50 percent in one subject of language in HSC
B.Sc (Hons) Mathematics Any one language from List A with Mathematics and any two subjects out of which one should be from List B1 Candidates will need 45 percent marks in HSC along with Maths. (50 percent marks or above)
B.Sc (Hons) Physics Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics Candidates need 55 percent in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics with 50 percent in one subject of language in HSC
B.Sc (Hons) Zoology Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biological Studies/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry Candidates will need 55 percent marks in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Biotechnology in HSC

Miranda House UG Selection Criteria

Selection to UG courses is based on the CUET examinations conducted by the university followed by e-counselling rounds. Those candidates who qualify in their CUET examinations will be required to enroll for e-counseling. Candidates will then be able to choose which college they wish to attend through the two rounds of e-counseling. 

Furthermore, CUET examinations are divided into three sections:

  • Section 1 Languages: this further contains two sections, ‘A’ and ‘B’. Section ‘A’ contains 13 languages such as Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, etc. Section ‘B’ contains 20 languages such as French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, etc. For admission candidates must at least appear in one language. 
  • Section 2 Domain: There are 27 domain-specific subjects in this section. Candidates are required to refer to the program-specific eligibility criteria in order to select domain-specific subjects. 
  • Section 3 General Test: General test for any UG program offered by the university where the general test is being used for admission. Candidates must refer to the program-specific eligibility criteria for selecting general tests.

    Miranda House offers MA and M.Sc. courses under PG programs in multiple specializations. Candidates applying to any of these courses must qualify Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant discipline. The selection process will be based on merit or Entrance Exam score.
