National Institute of Foundry & Forge Technology, Ranchi (NIAMT Ranchi) was established in 1966 by the Government of India with the assistance of UNESCO in its erstwhile name National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology. It is presently affiliated with Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT). The academic framework of NIAMT includes the multidisciplinary feature of Advanced Manufacturing Technology involving B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Metallurgy, and Materials Engineering.

National Institute of Foundry & Forge Technology, Ranchi is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated with Ranchi University.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Library:

The Library and Documentation Centre of NIFFT is rendering valuable services to the Institute and its users. It has more than 50,450 reading Materials (Books, Bound volumes of Journals, Standards, Transparencies, Slides, Video cassettes, Microfilms and LRs, etc). The center subscribes to 77 Journals and 1100 e-journals.

Gymkhana:

The Students’ Gymkhana, NIAMT Ranchi is the official students’ representative body of NIAMT. The main role of the Gymkhana is to incorporate corporate life into the blood of students by organizing different cultural and technical programs & competitions. It also organizes various guest talks and enables the budding technocrats to successfully face the different hurdles outside the campus & become successful in their sphere of life. The Students’ Gymkhana also functions as the highest student body in putting their different grievances in front of the institution. The Director, of NIAMT functions as its patron & it appoints The Chairman, Students’ Gymkhana among the senior faculty members of the institution.

Bank And ATM:

Inside the campus of the Institute, Canara Bank (NIAMT Branch) is situated. It provides all the required facilities to its customers. The transaction timings are from 1030 hrs to 1600 hrs on all working days.

HEALTH FACILITY:

A Doctor and two paramedical staff with adequate nursing facilities are available on the campus in case of any medical emergency. Medications available at the campus include Detention and primary care facility basic life-saving equipment including NIBP, monitor, Oxygen kit, ECG, suction, etc. Critical cases are referred to ISPAT Hospital, Mecon, Shyamli Colony, Doranda where appropriate care of the patient. Hospitalization and admission at ISPAT Hospital are free for students of NIAMT when referred by the medical officer of the institute.

COMPUTER CENTRE:

Central Computer Center (C.C.C.) is mainly concerned to boost the IT Infrastructure Development, Maintenance, and Growth of employees and students at NIAMT. It provides Campus Wide Wired Network, Wide Wi-Fi Network, an advanced Computing facility, and Campus Wide Software. 

Presently, CCC Lab has 120 numbers of Desktop Computers dedicated to providing facilities to students and Recruitment Online Testing. It manages the Institute, Email Application and also provides the interface between the Institute and Department. 

Placement

The placement of the students of NIAMT reaffirmed the confidence industries have in the program. The fields, in which the students were placed, underlined the unique positioning of NIAMT's academic courses in a plethora of technical courses. The nature of jobs offered to NIAMT students varies widely. These offers are mainly in areas such as heavy engineering, automobiles, foundry and forge plants, electrical, R&D, machine tools, IT, etc.

Admission

Admission to all disciplines will be made in the Autumn Semester of each session at the First Year level through JEE (Main), the counseling for which is done by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). There shall be no opportunity for a change of branch mid-way through the program.
