The inception of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) dates back to November 1945 when it was established as a national-level apex advisory body. Its primary objectives were to conduct comprehensive surveys on the existing facilities for technical education and to foster development initiatives across the nation in a cohesive and harmonized manner. Enshrined within the AICTE Act, the council was formed with the mandate to facilitate the establishment of a unified and coordinated technical education framework throughout India. The overarching goals encompassed efficient planning and synchronized development of technical education, striving for qualitative enhancements alongside planned quantitative expansion. Additionally, the AICTE was entrusted with the responsibility of regulating and upholding norms and standards within the technical education ecosystem, ensuring its integrity and efficacy.
