Library

Prananath College (Autonomous), Khordha is the premier Institution for Higher Education in the State of Odisha and has completed 63 years of its existence. Prananath College Khurda Central Library, known as Jayee Rajguru Library, was established with a small number of books in the foundation year 1959 of the College. The Jayee Rajguru library is the hub of all academic activities providing access to double-storied information to the college community. It is a storied building that has spacious reading halls and compact stack area. Presently the Library holds 69,500 books including UGC, Book Bank, and S.S.G./TBL and subscribes various national and international journals. The library also provides access to the different online journals under full-text articles from which more than 10,000 e-journals, full text article and e-books mto may be browsed and down unloaded. The Library also subscribes to 14 daily open sources and 21 reputed magazines. The Library is using open source library management software “Smart Library” and implemented different technologies that are used most commonly in university libraries: Barcodes, RFID, and IoT for its smooth functioning of circulation operations. The Central Library serves its users from 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. on all working days.

NCC Facilities

The Prananath College (Autonomous), Khordha to meet the needs of the socio-economic scenario of Odisha in general and Khordha in particular has introduced NCC for the students since. The Prananath College (Autonomous), Khordha has the rare distinction in the entire state of taking the Senior Division Army Wing N.C.C. to an unparallel height, with records of remarkable achievements. The Senior Division Boys and Girls Wings N.C.C. have been functioning with a capacity of 54 and 50 cadets respectively. The SD Boys Wing comes under 6 (O) BN N.C.C., Puri and SD Girls Wing comes under 1 (O) Girls' BN. N.C.C., Bhubaneswar.

NSS Facilities

•The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a central sector scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government India. It is designed to provide opportunities to the students in colleges and universities to take part in various community service programmes.

•Prananath College (Autonomous), Khordha has the proud privilege of having Five National Service Scheme (NSS) Units (3 boys', 2 girls') with a strength of 50 volunteers each operating under direct supervision and control of the NSS Bureau, Utkal university. A student of the +2 and +3 wing can enrol himself/herself as a volunteer who opts to serve the nation through this NSS. An NSS Student volunteer has an opportunity to experience an accomplished social leader, an efficient administrator, and a person who understands human nature.

Eco Club Facilities

•The Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt. of India launched a programme called “National Green Corps” in the year 2001-02. The main objectives of these programmes are to provide environmental education and awareness in schools as well as in colleges by conducting programmes like rallies, padayatra, cleanliness drives, gardening, raising of nurseries, seed banks, making puppets from waste polythenes etc. Based upon these objectives eco clubs have been formed all around India in schools and colleges.

Prananath College Khurda Eco-Club has been established in our college since 2004, under the auspices of the Dept of Botany. It is a platform on which students are educated and encouraged to improve the environment of our institution. The Eco Club thus provides a wonderful opportunity to create awareness and build an attitude towards constructive action relating to the environment and its associated problems. The Club has been managing to do action-based activities like the Plantation of Trees, Cleanliness drives, and reducing pollution both within and outside the college campus, including beautification of the selected roadside areas, public places etc. Every student of the college can be a member of such a club by enrolling his/her name.

Canteen

Prananath College Khurda has two canteens on the college campus. College canteens cater to the needs of the students, teachers, employees of the institution and visitors. They function from 7 AM. to 5 P.M. on all working days. Fresh and healthy foods are available at reasonable prices. Tea, Snacks and meals preferably are prepared in a clean and healthy environment.
