The Punjab Agricultural University Library originated with a modest collection of 200 books in 1959 within the College of Agriculture. The foundation stone for the current structure was laid in February 1969 by Dr. M. S. Randhawa. In 1972, the library was relocated to the new building.
Presently, this temple of learning boasts a magnificent five-story structure covering an area of 93,320 sq. ft. It is centrally air-conditioned, surrounded by lush green lawns, adorned with beautiful ornamental trees, and set in a pollution-free environment. Evolving into one of the region's premier libraries, it serves as a pilgrimage site for students and faculty from across the country. With a seating capacity of 760 in its five reading halls, the library aims to provide a wealth of knowledge to its users and continues to enhance it through information technology, automation, and networking.
The state-of-the-art laboratory is equipped with ultramodern electron microscopes, including all necessary accessories and atomic force microscopes. This facility supports groundbreaking research in the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with a central focus on advancing crop production and productivity in Indian agriculture.
