Rajah Serfoji Government Arts College, Azhagammal Nagar (RSGAC), Thanjavur University was granted autonomy via way of means of the University Grants Commission (UGC)in 2004. Since then the university has been growing the curriculum and syllabi for the scholars as in line with the hints supplied through the UGC and the affiliating University. The university went for National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) accreditation in 2000 and was ultimately re-accepted in 2007 with a B++ grade and in 2016 with an A grade. Now the university is in the fourth cycle of reaccreditation
