SIMMT, Mumbai Admission Guidelines

The admission process for the First Year of the Post SSC Diploma Course in Engineering at SASMIRA is governed by the notification issued by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), which can be found on their official website.

Candidates seeking admission to Government/Government-Aided polytechnics must apply through the online application system. Applications submitted through any other method will not be considered.

It is mandatory for eligible candidates seeking admission to Diploma Courses in Government/Government-Aided institutions to submit the application form at the Application Receipt Centre (ARC). The application form must be filled out and submitted online via the provided website within the specified schedule outlined in the notification. Detailed instructions regarding the online application process are provided in the notification.

Additionally, SASMIRA has been designated as the nodal center for technical textiles by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

a. The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated as the average of Grade Points obtained in all subjects, excluding any additional 6th subject as per the Scheme of Studies.

b. The indicative percentage of marks for each subject is calculated as 9.5 multiplied by the Grade Point (GP) of the respective subject.

c. The overall indicative percentage of marks is determined by multiplying 9.5 by the CGPA obtained by the student.

SIMMT, Mumbai Admission Eligibility Criteria

For candidates from Maharashtra State seeking admission to the First Year of diploma courses in Engineering/Technology, the following eligibility criteria apply:

1. The candidate must be an Indian National and should have passed the SSC (Std. X) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in the Best of 5 aggregate. (Minimum 45% marks in Best of 5 aggregate for candidates belonging to Backward class categories recognized in the Maharashtra State), with passing grades in Mathematics, General Science, and English.

2. "Aggregate marks" refer to the total marks obtained by the candidate, considering the best 5 subjects.

3. State Board candidates who have passed Mathematics (Code 71) and Science & Technology (Code 72) are eligible for admission. For ICSE & CBSE board candidates, passing grades in Science and Mathematics are required for eligibility.

4. For candidates who passed the qualifying exam on or before 2009, the Best of 5 aggregate marks shall be determined by selecting any 5 subjects in which the maximum marks are scored.

5. ICSE candidates can choose the best 5 subjects out of 6, comprising 4 subjects from Group 1 and 2 subjects from Group 2, for admission/merit consideration.

6. For CBSE candidates, if marks are given in the form of Grade Points, the equivalent percentage of marks shall be calculated as follows:

•The CGPA is the average of Grade Points obtained in all subjects excluding any additional 6th subject as per the Scheme of Studies.

•Subject-wise indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x Grade Point of the Subject.

•Overall indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x CGPA.

SIMMT, Mumbai Reservation Criteria

Reservation for Backward Class Candidates:

The allocation of seats available under the General Admission Process, as stipulated in the rules, among various backward-class candidates from Maharashtra State, follows the details outlined in the table below. Backward class candidates are required to declare their category at the time of application.

It is important to note that if a candidate neglects to claim reservation for the backward class on the application and subsequently seeks reservation at the time of admission by presenting the necessary documents, such a claim will not be entertained.

Reservation for Female Candidates:

By the provisions outlined in Government Resolution No. GEC-1000/(123/2000)/ Tech. Edu.-1, dated 17th April 2000, 30% of seats are reserved for female candidates in all courses offered by institutions falling under the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). This reservation applies to candidates from General, SC, ST, VJ/DT (NT-A), NT-B, NT-C, NT-D, and OBC categories. Seats reserved for female candidates are available under both the 70% Home District seats and the 30% seats designated as Other than Home District, as part of the CAP. It's important to note that there is no reservation for female candidates under the Defence, Physically Handicapped, and SBC categories.

SIMMT, Mumbai Procedure for Admission

Submission of Application Form at ARC:

Eligible candidates seeking admission to the first year of Diploma Courses in Government/Government Aided/Unaided Polytechnics (participating in CAP) must submit their application forms online according to the schedule specified in the notification.

The major steps and guidelines for admission to Diploma Courses through CAP are outlined as follows:

1. Online filling and submission of the application form to the website for admission to the Diploma through CAP.
Candidates should fill and submit only one online application form, which will be applicable for admission to all Diploma Institutes participating in CAP.

2. Candidates submitting or confirming more than one application will be considered as duplicate forms and will be rejected without any communication. Only the latest application submitted will be considered valid for admission.

3. Document verification and confirmation of the online application form at the Application Form Receipt Centers (ARCs) by eligible candidates.

4. Display of the Merit List of candidates who have confirmed the online Application Form at ARC for the Centralized Admission Process for admission to the Diploma as per the schedule.

5. Filling in and confirming the Online Option Form(s) for CAP Round(s) I/II/III at ARC by candidates eligible to participate in these respective CAP rounds.

6. Display of Allotment(s) of respective CAP Round(s) I/II/III on the website.

7. Reporting to respective Institutes as per the allotment of CAP Round(s) I/II/III.

8. Conducting CAP Round-IV through counseling at the designated centers of admission and Reporting to the respective Institute.

Retention of Original Certificates:

If a candidate is offered admission, their original School/College Leaving Certificate (last attended) will be retained by the Principal. This original certificate will not be returned to any candidate once admitted to a course unless the candidate cancels their admission.

SIMMT, Mumbai Fee Structure and Payment

The allocation of seats available under the General Admission Process, as prescribed in the rules, among various backward-class candidates from Maharashtra State, follows the details outlined in the table below. Backward class candidates are required to declare the category to which they belong at the time of application.

a) The fee structure will adhere to the regulations set forth by the Directorate of Technical Education, M. S.
b) Details regarding the current fees and deposit structure for various facilities such as laboratories, pilot plants, libraries, etc., along with the payment schedule, will be posted on the Institute Notice Board.

Mode of Payment:

Candidates who have been offered a seat in any DMTT, DMTC, or DKT course are required to pay the prescribed tuition fees, development fees, and other charges in the form of a Demand Draft (D.D.) from a Nationalized bank valid for a minimum of six months, made payable to the Principal, Samira. No other forms of payment will be accepted. Admission will be confirmed only upon payment of the fees. Additionally, candidates eligible for fee concessions must present documentary evidence issued by the appropriate authority at the time of admission.

Refund Policy:

Only students who have permanently left the Institute are entitled to apply for a refund. Students who wish to appear for an examination as ex-students will not be considered as having left the Institute. When claiming a refund of deposits, candidates must produce the original stamped receipt, without which the deposit will not be refunded. Furthermore, refund claims must be submitted within one year from the completion date of the course; otherwise, the claim will be forfeited.

Cancellation of Admission and Refund of Fees:

The refund of tuition fees, development fees, and other charges after the cancellation of admission will be under the AICTE guidelines No. AICTE/Legal/04(01)/2007, dated April 2007, and Circular No. 698 dated 24/08/2007 issued by the Pravesh Niyantran Samity, Mumbai.
