National Board of Accreditation (NBA)
The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India, was initially established by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) under section 10(u) of the AICTE Act in 1994. Its primary objective was to evaluate the qualitative competence of programs offered by educational institutions from diploma to post-graduate levels in engineering and technology, management, pharmacy, architecture, and related disciplines, all of which were approved by AICTE.
Subsequently, NBA transitioned into an independent autonomous body on January 7th, 2010, with a focus on ensuring quality and relevance in technical education, particularly in professional and technical disciplines like Engineering and Technology, Management, Architecture, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, and Catering Technology. This was achieved through the accreditation of programs offered by technical institutions. In April 2013, the Memorandum of Association and Rules of NBA were amended to grant complete independence from AICTE, both administratively and financially.
