Admission Procedure

The polytechnic admits both boys and girls. Reservation will be made as per the norms prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility for the Award of Diploma

No candidate shall be eligible for the Diploma unless he/she has undergone the prescribed course of study for not less than 3 academic years or 2 academic years as a lateral entry in any institution affiliated with the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamilnadu, and passed in the prescribed examination.

Admission

A diploma in Engineering is a professional course that is 3 years in duration. The candidates who have passed class 10th or 12th can apply for admission to Diploma in Engineering. Students can apply for a degree in Diploma in Engineering which can help them to get admission directly to the second year of Engineering. After completing a degree in Diploma, the candidates can go for B.E / B.Tech which collectively takes them 6 years to complete their engineering (3 years diploma + 3 years B.E / B. Tech).

Course Duration

The Full Time Regular Diploma Course in Engineering is three academic years. The Course will run on a semester pattern for the first, second, and third years comprising of six semesters.

Age Limit

The candidate must be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of applying for admission. There is no upper age to apply for admission to a Diploma in Engineering.

Education Qualification

1. After 10th
2. The Candidate must have passed Class 10th from the Recognized Board.
3. The Candidate must have acquired an aggregate of 45% in the 10th Exam
4. Admission to the Second year (Lateral Entry)
5. After 12th
6. The Candidate must have passed Class 12th from the Recognized Board.
7. The Candidate must have studied Class 12th Major Subjects such as Mathematics.
8. The Candidate must have attained an overall aggregate of 45% in the qualifying exam.
