Thiruvalluvar University M.Phil & PhD Admission 2024

1. Admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D. research programs with various specializations is available at Thiruvalluvar University for the year 2024. The maximum duration for completing the M.Phil. program is two years for full-time candidates and three years for part-time candidates. Similarly, for the Ph.D. program, the maximum completion period is five years for full-time candidates and six years for part-time candidates. There are three categories of Ph.D. research scholars: full-time, part-time (both teacher and non-teacher), and independent research scholars.

2. Admission to both courses is based on the candidates' performance in the qualifying examination and their scores in the Entrance Test, followed by a viva voce/interview. Candidates who have qualified in exams such as UGC/CSIR (JRF), SLET, GATE, or hold teacher fellowships are exempted from the entrance test for admission to the M.Phil full-time course.

3. For Ph.D. admission, candidates who have cleared exams like UGC/CSIR (JRF), NET, SLET, GATE, or hold teacher fellowships are exempted from the proposed entrance examination. However, they are required to attend an interview, which carries a weightage of 60 marks.

Key points to note for the part-time program

For the part-time program, candidates applying for admission to Thiruvalluvar University MA and M.Sc programs in 2024 should take note of the following key points:

1. Enclosure Requirements: Candidates must submit a "Service Certificate" along with an eligible "No Objection Certificate" along with the application form for admission.

2. M.Phil Admission Preference: Preference for M.Phil admission will be given to teachers currently employed in colleges affiliated with Thiruvalluvar University and in the University's own departments. Service certificates for teachers must be issued by the Principal of the college/Polytechnic or the Headmaster of schools of any category.

3. Subject Selection: If non-lab-oriented subjects are available in the affiliated colleges, candidates may only be registered for non-lab-oriented subjects.

Thiruvalluvar University Application Process

1. Prospective applicants have the option to obtain the application forms either by downloading them from the official website of the University or by acquiring them directly from the Registrar's office at Thiruvalluvar University, situated in Vellore-632 115.

2. To complete the application process, candidates are required to submit a non-refundable application fee of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST applicants) in the form of a Demand Draft. This should be accompanied by self-attested copies of mark statements from the qualifying examination, along with the duly filled-in application form. The completed application packet should be sent directly to the Registrar's office at Thiruvalluvar University, Serkadu, Vellore – 632 115. Applicants are instructed to clearly mark the envelope with "Application for admission to University Department".
