Comprehensive and in-depth analysis of CAT 2011.
IIMs conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is used
to shortlist candidates for post-graduate programs. Many other institutes
also use the CAT score. The CAT online computer-based test is available. The
CAT 2011 test was conducted from 22 October 2011 through 18 November 2011. CAT
2011 saw 2 sections rather than 3 sections, as was the case with earlier
versions of CAT. Each section has a time limit of 70 minutes and 30 questions. Candidates
can only review the section within the time limit. However, candidates cannot
go back to previous sections once they have moved on to the next section.
A tutorial of 15 minutes is given to students before each
test. It explains how to solve the test, and how to mark the answers.

SECTIONAL
ANALYSIS
SECTION I: Verbal
Ability and Logical Reasoning
Evaluation: The questions were moderately difficult. The
verbal ability covered all topics related to English usage. Students would
have been able to score well in this section if they had a good grasp of
grammar and vocabulary. If a student has read a lot, comprehension
passages are easy to understand. The majority of the passages were based on
science, politics, and philosophy. Logical reasoning saw sets that were
easy to manage because they were logic-based only.
SECTION II:
Quantitative ability & DI
Evaluation: Questions on quantitative ability were based
on a variety of topics and required simple calculations. The questions
on quantitative ability were based on logic and didn't require the direct
application of a formula. This area was characterized by speed, clarity in
the basics of DI, and excellent time management. The DI sets were easier
than in the past year. This section had a moderate difficulty level.
