CBSE Grade 12 Marking Scheme 2025 is a 9-point system with grades from A1 to E. CBSE officially provides grades to students based on their ranks. This year, CBSE will not reflect the overall percentage or any other numerical score of students in its results. Students will only be able to check their subject-wise grades. A1 grade is provided to students who are in the top 1/8 among the passing students. Students who secure more than 90% marks will be eligible to get an A1 grade. Detailed information about the marks that students have obtained will be reflected in their CBSE Grade 12 results for 2025.

Students can also calculate their Grade Point Average (CGPA) using the grade points. With the help of GPA, students can easily calculate their percentage. CBSE has made many changes in its grading system to make students focus more on practical knowledge. Learn more about the CBSE Grade 12 Marking Scheme 2025.

  1. CBSE may make some variations if there is a tie as per the marking scheme.
  2. In case of a tie, all students securing the same marks will get the same marks.
  3. If the number of students in a marking point is divided into two segments, the smaller segment will go with the larger one.
  4. The marking method will be used in subjects where the number of candidates passing is more than 500.
  5. In case of subjects where the total number of candidates passing a subject is less than 500, marking will be adopted as per the marking and distribution pattern of other similar subjects.

How to calculate percentages using Grade Points for CBSE Class 12th?

To calculate the percentage using CBSE Class 12 Marking Scheme 2025, add up the mark points of all the five major subjects and then divide the sum by 5. The last step is to multiply the average mark point by 9.5 and the value so obtained will be the percentage required. For example, suppose a CBSE Board student secures the following mark points for the five major subjects

CBSE Board Subjects

Grade Points

SUBJECT 1

9

SUBJECT 2

8

SUBJECT 3

9

SUBJECT 4

6

SUBJECT 5

8

TOTAL

40

Now, the following steps are to be followed to calculate the CGPA:

  1. Add the grade points i.e 9+8+9+6+8 = 40
  2. Divide the sum by 5 i.e 40/5 = 8
  3. Hence, the CGPA obtained is 8.0
