CBSE 12th Physics Grace Marks 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education has raised concerns among class 12 board examinees over out-of-syllabus questions in the Physics paper. According to teachers and students, Physics held on February 21, 2025 had 3 extremely challenging questions. The irrational way of framing the questions by the board brought a wave of criticism from teachers, students and parents. A founder of Metaverse waged a fight against CBSE and said in his letter that if the board fails to admit its mistake and take appropriate measures, they should be ready for legal action.

CBSE 12 Physics Grace Marks 2025: Major Errors in Physics Questions

Based on the feedback and reactions from students and some teachers, we have given below some of the issues found in the CBSE 12th Physics 2025 question paper:

1. Errors and complexities in questions: In question 30 of all sets, two options were found correct, which created confusion among the students. The statement given in question 26 of set 55/6/2 was incomplete.
2. Out of Syllabus Questions: Around 3 questions from various sets related to resistance grouping were not included in the NCERT textbooks.
3. Difficulty level of questions: Some of the numerical-based problems were of advanced level and could not be solved by Class 12 level students.

How Are Grace Marks Calculated?

CBSE has a particular policy of awarding grace marks in such cases:

1. Full Marks for Affected Questions: If the question is totally out of syllabus, CBSE can award full marks to all the students regardless of their attempt.
2. Balanced Marking: In case a part of the question is outside the syllabus, CBSE can give half marks on attempted parts.
3. Scaling Technique: In some cases, CBSE adjusts scores statistically through scaling to ensure equity across different sets of students

According to the teachers' union, the complexity of the questions creates unnecessary confusion among examinees and may increase the failure rate in Physics paper. To maintain the sanctity of board exams and promote fairness in assessment, they demanded grace marks in Class 12 Physics from CBSE. According to reports, CBSE is under immense pressure after a Congress member shared a screenshot of questions on the subject that were out of syllabus and alleged that CBSE is playing dirty games with students.

Though CBSE is still silent on the issue, it is expected that the board will take note of the students' complaint and take corrective measures.
