The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 Physics paper on February 21. The exam students found the paper to be 'moderately difficult'. Teachers and experts in the field have analysed the paper as 'reasonably well-paced'.
All the questions in the CBSE Class 12 Physics exam were compulsory. The question paper had five sections - Sections A, B, C, D and E. The exam was conducted for 70 marks.
Thilak M, a Physics Teacher (PGT) at Jain International University, in his opinion said that the CBSE Class 12 Physics paper for 2025 was not that difficult., with a mix of straightforward and challenging questions. While the overall structure was in line with expectations, some sections required in-depth conceptual understanding, leading to mixed responses from students.”
According to the teacher, the multiple-choice questions were generally moderate, but some, especially those related to moving charges and magnetism, were tricky. It required strong conceptual clarity and problem-solving skills. In contrast, the questions on modern physics were easier and more direct, providing scoring opportunities for students who had read NCERT well. The teacher said that section B was relatively easy.
The 2-mark questions were simple, making this section a confidence booster for most students. Well-prepared students can comfortably attempt these in a short time. He said, "Section C of the CBSE Class 12 Physics paper was based on basic concepts, students who have a good understanding of concepts can handle it, while students who rely on uninformed learning may struggle." He added that the modern physics case study portion was typical and scoring, however, the capacitance-based case study posed challenges, demanding analytical thinking and application of multiple concepts.
"The 5-mark questions were not as straightforward as in previous years. They required logical reasoning and multi-step problem-solving, making them difficult for average students. This change reflects the increased emphasis on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS)," he said.
According to Tushar Goyal, PGT Physics at Silverline Prestige School, Ghaziabad: “The Class 12 Physics paper offered a balanced challenge, effectively assessing students’ understanding of key concepts and their ability to apply them. The paper covered a wide range of topics from the syllabus, with a mix of conceptual questions, derivations, and numerical problems. A variety of topics were sampled in the paper, ensuring that students did not rely solely on a few areas. The questions were generally well written and easy to understand, reducing the chances of misinterpretation
The teacher further stated that overall, it was a reasonably well-crafted paper that provided a fair assessment of students’ learning.
According to Surendra Puli, PGT Physics, VidyaGyan School, Sitapur, the paper was quite lengthy, with Set 3 being particularly detailed.
He said, "The multiple-choice questions (MCQs) were quite tricky and posed a great challenge. Section E, which had five-mark questions, was relatively simple but took a considerable amount of time to complete, similar to the three-mark questions in section C. In section B, some of the two-mark questions were moderately difficult and required a deeper level of conceptual understanding.".
Geeta, a student of Vidyagyan School, Sitapur, described the paper as moderate and said: "Section B in set 2 was a bit lengthy and section C focused on concept-based questions, which I enjoyed. Overall, the paper was moderate and I am expecting good marks."
Ragini Shrivastava, PGT of Physics at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, while analysing the paper said: “Today’s Physics paper presented a solid challenge, offering a good test of both theoretical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills. Overall, the difficulty level was high. It was difficult for average students to understand. Questions in section E which can usually be solved easily by students were a bit confusing. The MCQs were of high difficulty level. Some questions in sections B and C were from deleted portions of the CBSE syllabus. The case studies were of medium to high level of difficulty. Overall, the paper was not easy to solve and only those students were comfortable solving it who had prepared very well.”
Soon after the exam, detailed sets of today's CBSE Class 12 Physics question paper 2025, along with expert-prepared answer keys will be shared. Students eagerly wait for these resources to understand and review the exam better.
