The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) offers several scholarships to provide financial aid to students enrolled in its affiliated schools, especially for board exam students. Here are some of the scholarships:
Eligibility: The candidate must be pursuing class 11 and 12 education in CBSE affiliated schools.To be eligible under the scholarship scheme, all girl students appearing for the first time must get 70 per cent or above marks in the CBSE class 10 exam. Students from families with an annual gross income of Rs 8 lakh or less are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Also, the monthly tuition fees should not exceed Rs 1,500 in class 10, there should not be an increase of more than 10 per cent in class 11 and 12. Students interested in this scholarship can submit their applications through the official website of CBSE, cbse.gov.in.
Rewards: After getting selected for the scholarship, the selected students will get an amount of Rs 500 per month.
Board’s Merit Scholarship (BMS)
Eligibility: This scholarship is for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. Students must have passed class 10 or 12 examination from CBSE and secured at least 85 percent marks.
Award: The Board provides an amount of Rs 12,000 every year to the students of class 10th and 12th.
Apart from scholarships for class 10th and 12th students, CBSE also offers assistance for students who are about to take admission in college. The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students (CSSS) is awarded to students who have secured more than 80 percentile in the class 12 exams of their respective boards. They must be enrolled in regular programmes (not correspondence or distance courses), belong to a family with an annual income of less than Rs 5 lakh, and must not be receiving any other scholarship or fee reimbursement. Candidates with diplomas are not eligible.
Candidates selected under the CBSE Central Sector Scholarship will be provided financial assistance of Rs 12,000 per year for the first three years. The scholarship amount will increase to Rs 20,000 per year for the fourth and fifth year.
