Major changes have been announced in the CUET 2025 exam. The exam date 2025 will be announced soon. It will be conducted in May 2025. The question paper will have three sections as per the CUET 2025 exam pattern: one for languages ​​(Section I), one for the respective subject domain (Section II), and one for the general test (Section III). What's New in CUET Exam Pattern?

  1. Students can now choose any subject for the CUET exam, irrespective of the subjects they studied in class 12.
  2. The CUET entrance exam 2025 will be conducted in CBT mode only.
  3. The number of test papers has been reduced from 63 to 37.
  4. All test subjects of CUET will be of 1 hour duration. NTA will remove optional CUET questions.
  5. Students can now choose a maximum of 5 test subjects.
  6. Admission for the removed subjects will be based on the General Aptitude Test.

CUET 2025 Exam Pattern - Section Wise

The question paper of CUET 2025 exam will have multiple choice question type only. The CUET exam details will include four sections – Section IA, Section IB, Section II, and Section III.

  1. Section IA will cover 13 languages: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu.

CUET Exam Pattern 2025 - Points to Remember

Candidates have the option to choose a maximum of 1 language from Section IA. One of the languages ​​chosen must be a domain-specific language. Additionally, in Section II, candidates can choose a maximum of 3 subjects from the 23 available options. The general examination is part of Section III.

Following the recent changes, candidates can appear for a maximum of 10 exams in the following manner:

  1. Option 1:
    1. Select a maximum 1 language from section IA.
    2.  Select a maximum 3 domain subjects from section II.
    3. Take the general test from Section III.
  2. Option 2:
    1. Choose a maximum of 2 languages from Section IA.
    2. Select a maximum of 2 domain subjects from Section II.
    3. Take the general test from Section III.

The candidates must refer to the requirements of the CUET exam details of their desired university while choosing the language (up to 1) from section IA, as well as select a maximum of 3 subjects from section II and the general test under section III. The maximum marks per subject in CUET UG 2025 will be 250. To pass the exam, candidates must score at least the minimum marks out of the total CUET full marks. Students preparing for the commerce exam should go through the CUET paper pattern 2025 for commerce students. Similarly, candidates from science background are advised to go through the CUET paper pattern for science students.

CUET Test Pattern 2025 - Key Points

The CUET 2025 entrance exam will be divided into three slots based on the subjects opted by the candidates, which will be conducted on different days. The total marks of the CUET exam are 250.

  1. In slot 1, which is held in the morning, candidates can take a maximum of four tests. These tests include one language from section IA, a maximum of two domain-specific subjects from section II, and a general test from section III.
  2. Slot 2 of the CUET 2025 exam will be held in the afternoon, in which candidates can take a maximum of five tests. They can choose from the following options:

  4. Keep in mind that there is negative marking in the total marks of CUET UG; so be extremely careful and avoid answering any question incorrectly.
  5. If possible, visit the examination centre a few days or a day before the exam and get complete information about that place, so that you can save your time and do not face any problems on the day of the exam.
  6. Remember, try to bring only the essentials with you as carrying extra items will not be allowed inside the exam centre.
