Is JEE Main 2025 Syllabus Reduced?

The NTA has released the syllabus for JEE Main 2025 and has offered a revised curriculum, which is more focused on students. The reduction made within it falls in line with the recent modifications of NCERT textbooks and aims at reducing the academic burden on students' minds while still covering all the significant topics.

According to data from previous trends, nearly 85% of the syllabus is the same as in earlier versions, ensuring continuity for students who have started their preparations. However, about 15% of topics were removed.

This is done by prioritizing important topics in the JEE Main reduced syllabus, thus optimizing the study plans of students and thereby enhancing chances for success in one of India's most competitive engineering entrance exams.

Is the Syllabus Reduced for Jee Main 2025?

Ever since the NTA recently introduced a revised JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern by eliminating the optional questions in Section B, students have begun to wonder about possible changes to the JEE Main 2025 Syllabus. This is comprised of concepts under three basic subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry; which are largely covered in the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 study material or syllabus.

Is the JEE 2025 Syllabus the Same As 2024?

The JEE Main 2025 syllabus is similar to the one of 2024 except for some minor alterations since there have been no developments. In 2024, the NTA had withdrawn certain topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  1. For Physics, the removal of topics such as "Capacitors and Capacitance," "Communication Devices," etc., are deleted for Physics and some experimental skills are undertaken.
  2. In Chemistry, the chapters "States of Matter," "Surface Chemistry," and "Environmental Chemistry" have been dropped.
  3. Mathematics also reduced "Mathematical Induction," "Mathematical Reasoning," and some of the topics in "Three Dimensional Geometry."

Therefore, candidates, who wish to sit for the JEE Main 2025 examination, shall search for the latest syllabus issued by the NTA and align their preparations.

Which Chapters have been removed from JEE main 2025?

NTA has revised JEE Main syllabus 2024 by removing specific chapters and topics that do not match the curriculum of NCERT. Here's the list of deleted content subject-wise:

Will JEE Main 2025 Be Tough?

The difficulty level of JEE Main 2025 will be multiple factors of change in the syllabus, question patterns, and student preparedness.

Factors Influencing the Difficulty Level of JEE Main 2025

Reduced Syllabus

  1. Effect: Since it has removed 11 chapters and many topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, the syllabus is relatively lean, or perhaps less heavy for students.
  2. Expectation: The attention to the core concepts should be made up of conceptually deeper, application-based questions more than this reduced syllabus. Pattern and Distribution of Questions.
  3. NTA's Trend: JEE Main has always maintained a good balance of easy, moderate, and difficult questions over the years. So, if this trend continues, the overall difficulty level is unlikely to increase sharply.
  4. Insights: ~25% easy, ~50% moderate, and ~25% difficult questions, which are expected to stay the same. This trend has been observed in previous years' papers.

Increased Competition

  1. Data Insights: With nearly 1.4 million candidates registering in 2024, the number of applicants for JEE Main has risen. And whether the exam is tough or not, scoring well can only be achieved through thoughtful preparation irrespective of whether the exam is tough or not.

Weightage Redistribution

  1. Effect: If topics are reduced, there might be increased weightage of the remaining syllabus towards the high-priority chapters such as Calculus, Thermodynamics, and Organic Chemistry. These are usually considered tricky subjects.

Strict NCERT

  1. Benefit: The Syllabus is quite close to the NCERT textbooks, hence there is less requirement of extra resources. It makes it easy for the students to prepare themselves, mainly through schooling.
