CAT result 2024 found itself at the mercy of the law of the land when a candidate who appeared for CAT 2024 on 24 November 2024 sought cancellation of his result from the Delhi High Court. According to reports in Bar and Bench, Aditya Kumar Mallick who appeared for the CAT 2024 has taken objection to the provisional answer key claiming one of the questions under the VARC section in CAT 2024 question paper contains an error.

He had moved a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the result of CAT 2024. The matter came up on December 24, 2024, before a Bench headed by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav. The court sought responses from the Union Ministry of Education and the CAT convening institute IIM Calcutta. The case has been listed for the next hearing on January 3, 2025.

The CAT 2024 examination was held on November 24, 2024, and more than 2.93 lakh students took the exam. The official CAT 2024 answer key was released on December 3 and the window for objection was open till December 5, 2024. The numbers at which objections were received are 405 in total, but none of them were valid on closer inspection. Maximum objections were registered in the VARC section, with 371 objections across the three slots. However, not a single one of them was accepted as valid.
