The Central Board of Secondary Education finally released the provisional datesheet for CBSE Exam 2026. In 2026, the board is going to organise the CBSE 10th and 12th Exams 2026 from 17th February to 15th July 2026. The CBSE exam 2026 will be conducted in a single session from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM for all the prescribed exam centres of the Main Examinations for Classes X and XII. Examinations for Sports Students - Class XII. Second Board Examinations - Class X and Supplementary Examinations - Class XIІI.
Around 45 lakh students will appear for 204 subjects of Classes X and XII from India and 26 foreign nations this year. In addition to the exams, the board will also carry out the practical assessment and post-result activities, which will be performed so that CBSE results 2026 are declared promptly.
Some modifications have been made by the board this year for the CBSE Board Exam 2026. Two exams will be conducted by the board for the students of class 10. The first one will held in February-March 2026, and the second exam will be held in May-June 2026.
According to the official notice at cbse.gov.in, to enable proper planning and implementation of duties by all stakeholders, the board has issued provisional date sheets according to registration figures of Class IX and XI for 2025:
The CBSE board has released the CBSE 10th and 12th tentative exam schedule 2026 so that the examinees can devise a systematic study plan to improve their performance. The schools will also be able to schedule their academic and administrative work, including the posting of teachers for examination and evaluation work. Now that the full schedule has been released, teachers can also organise their individual schedules, including vacations, as well, because the datesheet was released early.
As per the guidelines issued, marking of the CBSE 10th and 12th answer scripts will be initiated around 10 days after the completion of each exam and finished within 12 days.
As compared to last year, the board will be holding two exams for students of class 10. The candidates who cannot attend the first set of exams or failed the first attempt will be able to sit for the CBSE 10th second exams held in May 2026. The second set of exams will be held under the 'Essential Repeat' or 'Compartment' category. Those students who want to score better in the first exam will also be allowed to sit for the second board exam.
