CTET exam for classes 9 to 12 will not be held until 2027, as NCTE has rejected four-level exams under the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. NCTE will consider CBSE CTET exam for four levels after 2027. CBSE will soon conduct CTET 2025 exam for classes 1 to 8.
CTET 2025 Exam Latest News: The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has clarified that the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exam will not be conducted for classes 9 to 12 before 2027. There will not be a four-level CTET exam for teachers like the present one. NCTE chairman Pankaj Arora's clarification came after some media houses reported that the CTET exam will now be conducted for classes 9 to 12. Arora further said that the council has neither issued any statement in this regard nor asked CBSE to conduct CTET at four levels. The NCTE will consider making such changes after 2027, i.e. after the first batch of ITEP (Integrated Teacher Education Programme) graduates. The NCTE is a statutory body of the Government of India.
The CTET 2025 exam will be conducted soon for classes 1 to 8. CBSE is expected to release the official CTET notification in August 2025. The 12th edition of the CTET exam is likely to be held in December 2025. The CTET exam will have two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. CTET Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach classes 6 to 8.
ITEP stands for Integrated Teacher Education Program, which was launched in 2023. ITEP teaches candidates about teacher education along with the subject they choose. The first batch of ITEP will be completed in 2027 and these graduates will be able to teach at all four levels of the 5+3+3+4 school structure of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
