As per the CDS eligibility criteria, only unmarried candidates aged between 19 and 25 years are qualified to participate in the CDS 2023 examination.

The acronym CDS stands for Combined Defence Services. This examination is conducted biannually to enlist candidates for the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), and Indian Air Force Academy (AFA). The selection process for the CDS exam involves a written test, followed by an SSB interview.

Before taking part in the upcoming CDS 2023 exam, candidates are advised to thoroughly review the CDS 2023 syllabus and exam pattern. Familiarizing themselves with the syllabus will enable candidates to devise an effective exam strategy to attain commendable scores in the CDS examination.

Eligibility FOR CDS 2 2023 

1. Permanent Residency: Candidates must have permanent residency in India.
2. Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a graduate degree or be in their final year of graduation.
3. Minimum Age Requirement: The minimum age for candidates to appear for the exam is 19 years.
4.Gender Inclusivity at OTA: Female candidates are eligible to apply for the Officers' Training Academy (OTA).
5. Inclusion of Divorced and Issueless Women: Divorced and issueless women candidates are also eligible to apply for the exam.
6. BTech Graduates Eligibility: BTech graduates can apply for positions at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA).
7. Meeting Physical Standards: Candidates need to meet the specified physical standards set by the authorities.

CDS 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

Candidates aiming to qualify for the CDS Exam 2023 must adhere to the following criteria:
(i) Must be a citizen of India, or
(ii) Should be a subject of Bhutan, or
(iii) Must be a subject of Nepal, or
(iv) Should be a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(v) Must be a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African Countries (Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam) with the intention of permanently settling in India.

However, candidates falling under categories (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Indian government in their favor..
For Gorkha candidates from Nepal, a certificate of eligibility is also required to meet the eligibility criteria

Important Points

Graduates who prioritize Army/Navy/Air Force as their first choice are obligated to provide provisional graduation certificates during the commencement of the SSB Interview at SSB centers.
Individuals currently in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply.

Is CDS Open for 12th Pass Candidates?

No, individuals who have completed their 12th grade cannot apply for the CDS 2023 exam. To meet eligibility requirements for the CDS 2023 exam, candidates must have successfully obtained a graduation degree from a recognized university. Prior to submitting an application for the CDS 1 2023 exam, carefully review the educational qualification criteria outlined below:
For the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers' Training Academy (OTA), candidates are required to possess a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification. 
For the Indian Naval Academy (INA), candidates must hold a degree in Engineering from a recognized university or institution.For AFA, candidates must have a degree from a diagnosed University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10 -12 level) or Bachelor of Engineering Aspirants who are in their final year of graduation can apply provisionally

What Type of Graduation is Required for CDS?

Aspiring candidates should take note of the following guidelines to understand the suitable academic backgrounds and subjects needed for applying to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers' Training Academy (OTA):
1.  For the Air Force Academy (AFA), candidates need to have completed their graduation with Physics and Mathematics as subjects in their Class 12 curriculum, or they should hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree. 
2. For the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers' Training Academy (OTA), candidates should possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
3. For the Indian Naval Academy (INA), candidates must have obtained a Bachelor in Engineering degree from a recognized university.

CDS 2023 Age Limit & Marital Status

The CDS exam is open to only unmarried candidates. The age limits for candidates aspiring to apply for the exam are provided below:

The age limits for the CDS 1 exam are outlined below:
- For Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA), unmarried male candidates born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2004, are eligible to apply.
- For the Air Force Academy (AFA), candidates must be between 20 to 24 years of age as of January 1, 2023. They should have been born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2003.
- For Officers' Training Academy (OTA) (SSC Course for men), unmarried male candidates born between January 2, 1998, and January 1, 2004, can apply.
- For Officers' Training Academy (OTA) (SSC Women Non-Technical Course), candidates must be unmarried and born between January 2, 1998, and January 1, 2004.
 These age criteria specify the permissible birth date range for candidates based on the different academies within the CDS 1 examination.
