IIT Guwahati has commenced the GATE 2026 examination. The first shift of the GATE exam will continue until 12:30 PM. GATE 2026 IN, XE, XL, and XH Exam

IIT Guwahati has commenced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination. For the first day of the GATE 2026 exam, the AG, ES, GG, IN, MA, MN, TF, XE, and XL papers are being conducted in the first shift (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM). On the other hand, the second shift (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM) will be conducted for the GATE 2026 AE, BT, CH, CY, GE, PH, and XH papers.

Candidates appearing for the GATE exam must carry their GATE 2026 admit card, a valid ID proof, and other documents (as specified by the authorities). Students should strictly follow the GATE 2026 exam guidelines to avoid any issues during the verification process.

GATE 2026 Question Paper: Tips and Safe Attempts in GATE

GATE is a computer-based exam that runs continuously for 3 hours without any breaks. While attempting the questions, students should keep the following points in mind:

1. The invigilator will allow you to log in 20 minutes before the exam starts so that you can carefully read the instructions.
2. Attempt the easy questions first, the ones you are completely confident about. Then move on to the medium and difficult level questions.
3. Keep at least 20 to 30 minutes to review all the questions you have attempted.
4. Since there is negative marking in GATE 2026, avoid guessing the answers.
5. Use the rough sheet wisely. Make sure you write your name and registration number on it.
6. Ensure that you click the "Submit" button only when the invigilator is present.
7. For the upcoming exam dates, candidates appearing for the exam should revise and solve previous years' GATE question papers with solutions.

GATE 2026 Exam Day Guidelines

Please follow these instructions when reporting to the GATE exam center:

1. Candidates must arrive at the exam center at least 90 minutes before the scheduled exam time.
2. Do not carry any electronic gadgets or personal belongings such as handbags, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, or any written material to the center.
3. Candidates should avoid wearing any items with metal embellishments, as this may cause difficulties during the security check process.
4. A scribble pad will be provided inside the examination hall for rough work.
5. The GATE calculator will be available online on the candidate's system.
6. Candidates may carry a pen, pencil, and a transparent water bottle to the center.
7. Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination hall before the scheduled end time.
8. Click the "Submit" button only in the presence of the invigilator. Once submitted, the answers will be locked, and the exam will end.

After each shift, students will receive paper analysis, student reactions, and memory-based answer keys for the GATE IN, XL, XE, MA, BT, and other subjects held on February 7th.
