GATE 2026 application last date: IIT Guwahati will be closing the GATE 2026 application window soon without late fees. The GATE 2026 last date to apply without paying any late fee is September 28. Interested applicants who wish to apply for MTech or PhD programmes can register now to save themselves from paying the GATE 2026 late fee. The GATE 2026 application window was open on August 28 at the GOAPS portal. Candidates were required to go to the official website and register an account at the GATE candidate login 2026 to apply for the examination. The application window with no late fees will be available till September 28. Candidates who wish to apply are required to register and submit the form at the earliest.
To submit, the applicants need to go to the official site - gate2026.iitg.ac.in and proceed with the steps given below:
Candidates who are in the 3rd year or final year or have completed their graduation in engineering/technology/architecture/science/commerce/arts or humanities, are eligible to apply.
The candidates are required to upload their photograph, signature, and valid ID proof details according to the given specifications. In the SC/ST category, a caste certificate is compulsory to upload and for PwD or dyslexic, their medical certificate or PwD certificate. There is no requirement to upload certificates for EWS or OBC-NCL category applicants.
The exam fees of GATE 2026 have been revised by IIT Guwahati this year for all categories-
The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 in two shifts. The exam will be conducted online for three hours (morning shift- 9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and (afternoon shift- 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). The exam will be conducted for 30 GATE test papers. The GATE question paper 2026 will include MCQs, MSQs, and NATs, with general aptitude and core-subject topics. Aspirants are recommended to read the GATE 2026 exam pattern of their individual branches.
To prevent late fee charges for GATE 2026, candidates need to complete their application form at the earliest. Candidates who have committed mistakes in their forms can make alterations during the facility of GATE 2026 correction.
