GATE 2026 Registration: Eligibility criteria

  1. General Requirements: Applicants must be enrolled in the third year or above of an undergraduate program or have obtained a government-approved degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts or humanities.
  2. Examinations conducted by professional societies: Applicants must confirm that their professional societies' certifications are accepted by the Ministry of Education, AICTE, UGC and UPSC as equivalent to a general undergraduate program (BE, BTech, BArch, etc.).
  3. Foreign Degree Holders: Students from universities outside India who have obtained or are working towards obtaining a bachelor's degree (minimum three years) in the relevant field are also eligible.

GATE 2026 Registration: Documents Required

As per the official website of GATE 2026, the following documents are required:

  1. Good quality photograph of the candidate (as per the specifications)
  2. Good quality photograph of the candidate's signature
  3. Scanned copy of valid photo ID card (the same ID card has to be produced at the exam centre)
  4. Category certificate (SC/ST), if applicable
  5. Disabled/small ID card, if applicable
  6. Dyslexia certificate, if applicable

GATE 2026 Registration: Examination schedule

This exam will be conducted in two sessions over four days. The time limit for each session will be three hours. On February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026, the forenoon session will run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session will run from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
