Tamil Nadu's Health Minister approved 500 more postgraduate medical seats. This will improve medical education and public health services in the state. More students can get PG medical seats through the state quota. This is intended to strengthen Tamil Nadu's medical infrastructure.
The Minister said in the Assembly that new seats will be added to government medical colleges in several districts. These districts are Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Nilgiris, Namakkal, Nagapattinam, Krishnagiri, Ariyalur, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Kallakurichi, Pudukkottai, and Karur. The new seats will also be added to the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital.
The Minister introduced a new program to offer dialysis services. This was done at 50 improved health centers in rural areas. Private partners and NGOs provided significant support. This made important kidney treatment available to underserved communities, as reported by DT Next.
