Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the cut-off date for new admissions and re-registration for the July 2025 academic session to August 31, 2025. The extension applies to both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online courses, providing students with two more weeks to get admitted to undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate courses.
Fresh New applicants can register on the official Samarth Admission Portal (ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in), while re-registration for the next year or semester can be done by continuing students using the Samarth Student Portal (onlinerr.ignou.ac.in). IGNOU claimed that the move is to include students who experience last-minute difficulties with documents or online submissions, to provide greater participation in the July cycle.
The university has reaffirmed its 50% fee concession policy for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates in undergraduate courses in arts, science, and commerce streams. But the concession is not for students who are already benefiting under other schemes of the government.
IGNOU's July session admission regularly receives lakhs of students from all over India and abroad, rendering it one of the biggest open university enrollments in the world. Since the deadline has now been extended to August 31, officials anticipate an increase in enrollments, especially among working professionals and first-generation learners who are going for IGNOU's flexible mode of studies.
The university has also implored the students to avoid waiting for the last date to process since no extensions are expected beyond August 31.
